1. See the Beauty of Your Own Soul

Anita Moorjani Quote

"The realm I experienced when my body shut down allowed me to see my own magnificence, undistorted by fear. I became aware of the greater power I had access to.

While I was in that state of clarity in the other realm, I instinctively understood that I was dying because of all my fears. I wasn't expressing my true self because my worries were preventing me from doing so. I understood that the cancer wasn't a punishment or anything like that. It was just my own energy, manifesting as cancer because my fears weren't allowing me to express myself as the magnificent force I was meant to be.

In that expansive state, I realized how harshly I'd treated myself and judged myself throughout my life.

There was nobody punishing me. I finally understood that it was me I hadn't forgiven, not other people. I was the one who was judging me, whom I'd forsaken, and whom I didn't love enough. It had nothing to do with anyone else.

I saw myself as a beautiful child of the universe. Just the fact that I existed made me deserving of unconditional love. I realized that I didn't need to do anything to deserve this - not pray, nor beg, nor anything else. I saw that I'd never loved myself, valued myself, or seen the beauty of my own soul."

COACHING NOTES:

During her near-death experience, Anita discovered that she was a magnificent force of energy, but she had been holding herself back because of fear.

  1. Consider how fear may have become a normal part of your life: fear of failure, of being disliked, fear of not being good enough, of letting people down, fear of illness, of dying, etc.

  2. Anita saw that she'd never loved herself, valued herself, or seen the beauty of her own soul. Do you see how your fearful state has prevented you from loving and valuing yourself too?

  3. Notice your response to the word "magnificence" as a description of your true nature. Are you skeptical and dismissive? Or are you open to receiving the words of someone who may have seen something you haven't?

2. Shift From Beliefs to Awareness

Anita Moorjani Quote

"I want to clarify that my healing wasn't so much born from a shift in my state of mind or beliefs as it was from finally allowing my true spirit to shine through.

Many have asked me if something like positive thinking caused my recovery, and the answer is no. The state I was in during my NDE (near-death experience) was way beyond the mind, and I healed because my damaging thoughts were simply out of the way completely.

I was not in a state of thinking, but a state of being. It was pure consciousness - what I call magnificence! This state of Oneness transcends duality. I was able to get in touch with who I truly am, the part of me that's eternal, infinite, and encompasses the Whole.

I don't advocate that if we "believe" a certain way, we'll eliminate disease or create an ideal life. Instead, I'm more focused on self-awareness, which is different.

So no, it wasn't my beliefs that caused me to heal. My NDE was a state of pure awareness, which is a state of complete suspension of all previously held doctrine and dogma. This allowed my body to "reset" itself. In other words, an absence of belief was required for my healing.

Since my NDE, I've learned that strongly held ideologies actually work against me. Needing to operate out of concrete beliefs limits my experiences because it keeps me within the realm of only what I know - and my knowledge is limited. And if I restrict myself to only what I'm able to conceive, I'm holding back my potential and what I allow into my life.

However, if I can accept that my understanding is incomplete, and if I'm able to be comfortable with uncertainty, this opens me up to the realm of infinite possibilities."

COACHING NOTES:

Anita says: "I healed because my damaging thoughts were simply out of the way completely."

  1. Do you see how your beliefs can be a hindrance to the state of pure awareness? Consider the thoughts and beliefs you hold onto and defend. Do you own them? Do they own you? Or are you willing to drop them all for something far more valuable and true?

  2. Anita says that an absence of belief was required for her healing. This may sound counterintuitive to those of us who have grown up with religious teachings. Yet, this is a profoundly important distinction that she is making. Beliefs are only as deep as our thinking mind. Healing comes from a deeper place.

  3. What is being described here is a dropping, a letting go of all our constructs, beliefs, opinions and ideas. Byron Katie calls it the don't-know mind. J. Krishnamurti calls it freedom from the known. Anita describes it as opening herself up "to the realm of infinite possibilities."

3. Recognize Yourself as Love

Anita Moorjani Quote

"When I was in the NDE (near-death experience) state, it all became so clear to me because I understood that to be me is to be love. This is the lesson that saved my life.

Many of us still believe that we have to work at being loving, but that means living in duality, because there's a giver and receiver. Realizing that we are love transcends this. It means understanding that there's no separation between you and me, and if I'm aware that I am love, then I know that you are, too. If I care for myself, then I automatically feel the same for you!

In my NDE state, I realized that the entire universe is composed of unconditional love, and I'm an expression of this. Every atom, molecule, quark, and tetraquark, is made of love. I can be nothing else, because this is my essence and the nature of the entire universe.

Even things that seem negative are all part of the infinite, unconditional spectrum of love. In fact, Universal life-force energy is love, and I'm composed of Universal energy! Realizing this made me understand that I didn't have to try to become someone else in order to be worthy. I already am all that I could attempt to be.

When I am being love, I don't get drained, and I don't need people to behave a certain way in order to feel cared for or to share my magnificence with them. They're automatically getting my love as a result of me being my true self. And when I am nonjudgmental of myself, I feel that way toward others.

When I awoke into my infinite self, I was amazed to understand that my life could be dramatically different just by realizing that I am love, and I always have been. I don't have to do anything to deserve it. Understanding this means that I'm working with life-force energy, whereas performing at being loving is working against it.

Realizing that I am love was the most important lesson I learned, allowing me to release all fear, and that's the key that saved my life."

COACHING NOTES:

Much has been said about the subject of love, but Anita uses the word in the deepest sense.

  1. "I realized that the entire universe is composed of unconditional love, and I'm an expression of this." This is too wonderful for our mind to grasp, and yet, it is a divine fact that we can receive and embrace.

  2. What a beautiful and expanded view we are given here, compared to the limited, fearful and conditioned mind we are so used to living in.

  3. Once we see that this realm of judgment, fear and separation is a mental construct and not reality, we are free to know our true nature, to become "aware of our own magnificence," and open to limitless possibilities.

4. Allow All the Feelings

Anita Moorjani quote

"Because of what I realized in my NDE (near-death experience) I feel it's so important not to have judgment and fear toward myself.

When my inner dialogue is telling me that I'm safe, unconditionally loved, and accepted, I then radiate this energy outward and change my external world accordingly. My outer life is actually only a reflection of my inner state.

It's not important whether I'm having a bad day or a bad week. It's more important how I'm feeling about myself while I'm facing this day or week. It's about trusting the process even as I face a difficult time and not being afraid to feel anxiety, sadness, or fear, rather than suppressing everything until those emotions pass.

It's about allowing myself to be true to who I am. Because of this, the feelings will dissipate and occur less and less frequently.

Before my NDE, I used to suppress my upsetting emotions a lot, because I used to believe that they would attract negativity in my life. In addition, I didn't want to concern others, so I tried to control my thoughts and force myself to be positive. But I now understand that the key is to always honor who you truly are and allow yourself to be in your own truth.

Every segment of time is totally unique, and as each moment has passed, it can't be replicated in this physical plane. I've learned to be comfortable with that and to live in the moment. As much as possible, I try not to carry any emotional baggage from one instant to the next.

Instead, I try to see each moment as a clean slate, bringing with it new possibilities. So I do what uplifts me or brings me the most pleasure and joy at that time."

COACHING NOTES:

Every single moment is an opportunity to meet life where it is, allowing your journey to unfold naturally, without resistance and reluctance. This means not being afraid of your emotions and allowing anxiety, sadness, and every feeling that you have, to exist.

  1. Can you allow these feelings to just be, without all the drama that usually surrounds them? By allowing them, "the feelings will dissipate and occur less and less frequently."

  2. Practice allowing and relaxing through all the experiences you encounter today. When sadness or anxiety visit you, take a few deep, conscious breaths, and enter into the state of allowing, experiencing your emotions in the sweet seat of awareness.

  3. Notice your tendency to want to push your feelings away with fear and judgment. Gently, open to meet them with unconditional love.

5. Work With Universal Energy

Anita Moorjani Quote

"Previously, I used to pursue, feeling as though I had to do, get, and achieve. However, the very act of going after something stems from fear - we're afraid of not having what we truly want. It keeps us stuck in duality, because the focus is on the inherent separation between the hunger and the quarry. Now, however, I no longer chase anything. Instead, I allow.

For example, when I feel an incredible desire for where I want my life to go, I know that if I were to pursue it aggressively, this would only cause me to fight against universal energy. The more effort I have to put into trying to attain it, the more I know that I am doing something wrong.

Allowing, on the other hand, doesn't require effort. It feels more like a release because it means realizing that since everything is One, that which I intend to get is already mine.

The process of allowing happens by first trusting, and then by always being true to who I am. In this way, I will only attract that which is truly mine, and it all happens at the rate I'm comfortable with.

I can keep focusing on what worries me or what I think I need or find lacking, and my life won't move toward what I'd like to experience. It will just stay the way it is now, because I'm paying attention to my fears and what upsets me or leaves me feeling unfulfilled, instead of expanding my awareness by trusting and allowing new experiences.

So I can let the picture materialize slower or faster, depending on how quickly I want to let go of my worries and relax into the process. The more attached I am to certain ways of thinking or outcomes or the more fearful I am of new adventures, the slower the development will be, because I'm not open to the process. I'm not allowing universal energy to flow through me naturally.

Since the tapestry of all time has already been woven, everything I could ever want to happen in my life already exists in that infinite, nonphysical plane. My only task is to expand my earthly self enough to let it into this realm. So, if there's something I desire, the idea isn't to go out and get it, but to expand my own consciousness to allow universal energy to bring it into my reality here.

Pursuing what I desire only reinforces separation, whereas allowing means realizing that since we're all One and everything is connected, that which I desire is already mine."

COACHING NOTES:

Many of us have heard messages about how we need to exert a lot of effort to manifest what we want - from writing down our desires and copying them out multiple times, to doing daily affirmations and visualizations. But here, Anita presents us with a more enlightened view of how it all works.

  1. Either we are reinforcing separation, or we are realizing the Oneness and connection that exists in universal energy, and aligning with that by allowing and trusting.

  2. "The process of allowing happens by first trusting." Are you willing to trust that you don't need to chase anything anymore? Or that you don't need to fight and struggle with life to get what you want?

  3. "If there's something I desire, the idea isn't to go out and get it, but to expand my own consciousness to allow universal energy to bring it into my reality here." How different this view is from everything we have been taught! Be open to letting universal energy flow through you unhindered and see how you become aligned with life.

6. Be a Joyful and Fearless Expression of Life

Anita Moorjani Quote

"Finally, I can't stress enough how important it is to enjoy yourself and not take yourself or life too seriously. If I ever had to create a set of tenets for a spiritual path to healing, number one on my list would be to make sure to laugh as often as possible throughout every single day - and preferably laugh at myself.

Day-to-day problems never seem as big when viewed through a veil of humor and love.

In this age of information technology, we're bombarded with news seemingly at the speed of light. We're living in an age of high stress and fear, and in the midst of trying to protect ourselves from everything we think is "out there," we've forgotten to enjoy ourselves and to take care of what's inside.

Our life is our prayer. If we can go through life armed with humor and the realization that we are love, we'll already be ahead of the game.

I wish you joy as you realize your magnificence and express yourself fearlessly in the world."

COACHING NOTES:

These are words of wisdom from someone who has had a profound experience, and whose sharing of that experience has blessed many lives. And yet, she points out, we do tend to take life too seriously.

  1. Become aware of the healing power of laughter and start going through life in a lighter way, not paying so much attention to the serious problems the mind keeps bothering you about.

  2. Realizing your magnificence and expressing yourself fearlessly in the world may sound unrealistic and difficult, but remember, that's just another thought that you don't have to believe.

  3. Perhaps it's not difficult and unrealistic at all. Perhaps it's as simple as breathing, smiling, laughing, and staying open to all of life.
